SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS SOUGHT

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA

 

 

The Brunswick County Board of Education is seeking a superintendent to lead the school system in its continuing pursuit of academic excellence.  Candidates must meet the legal requirements to serve as a superintendent in North Carolina.  A doctoral degree and prior experience as a superintendent are preferred, but not required.  A successful candidate will be required to live in Brunswick County.  Applications are due by January 25, 2010.   

 

A successful candidate must demonstrate ability and success in (1) educational leadership;  (2) goal setting and monitoring achievement; (3) fostering community and/or intergovernmental partnerships; (4) administration and organization of long-term and short-term planning, budgeting, and personnel and facility management; (5) strong communication and effective team-building skills; (6) grant writing and procuring additional funding; (7) building diversity and involvement in community activities; (8) leadership in maintaining safe school environments; and (9) planning and funding of school facilities. 

 

Beautiful Brunswick County is located between Wilmington, North Carolina, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in the southeastern corner of North Carolina.  The county has a population of approximately 103,000 and is one of the fastest growing counties in the nation.  The county includes many miles of scenic oceanfront and barrier islands, making it a great place to live, work and play. 

 

The Brunswick County School System includes 19 schools with approximately 11,500 students in prekindergarten through twelfth grade.  It is governed by a five member partisan school board.
