SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS SOUGHT

CLINTON CITY, NORTH CAROLINA

 

 

The Clinton City Board of Education is seeking a superintendent to lead the school system in its continuing pursuit of academic excellence.  Candidates must meet the legal requirements to serve as a superintendent in North Carolina.  Successful leadership experience in a variety of educational settings is preferred.  A successful candidate will be required to live within the boundaries of the Clinton City school system.  Applications are due by January 4, 2010.   

 

A successful candidate must demonstrate ability and success in (1) educational leadership;  (2) goal setting and monitoring achievement; (3) financial budgeting and management; (4) long-term and short-term planning, (5) personnel and facility management; (6) strong communication and effective team-building skills; (7) grant writing and procuring additional funding; (8) building diversity and involvement in community activities; (9) leadership in maintaining safe school environments; (10) planning and funding of school facilities; and (11) fostering community and/or intergovernmental partnerships. 

 

The city of Clinton is located in Sampson County, North Carolina within an hour of the Research Triangle area, Fayetteville, Goldsboro, Wilmington, and the beautiful North Carolina coast.  The city has a population of approximately 8,600.  Clinton residents enjoy the quality of life that comes with excellent schools, outstanding healthcare, and a strong community spirit.  In 2007, Clinton was recognized as an All-America city

 

The Clinton City Board of Education consists of six members who are elected to four-year terms.  The school system includes five schools with approximately 3,400 students in prekindergarten through twelfth grade.  The new state of the art Clinton High School was opened in August 2008.  Education is a priority for the community, with citizens volunteering 150,000+ hours each year in Clinton City schools.
