Superintendent of Schools

 

Rutherford County, North Carolina

 

The Rutherford County Board of Education is seeking a Superintendent to lead the Rutherford County Schools.  Candidates must have or be qualified to hold a Superintendent license in North Carolina.  Prior experience or a doctoral degree is preferred but not required.  The individual chosen will be required to live in Rutherford County.

 

Candidates should demonstrate a strong ability in: 1) instructional and administrative leadership; 2)  partnering with community members, school personnel and government officials; 3) public relations; 4) administration and organization; 5) long and short term planning; 6) budgeting; 7) personnel management and staff development; 8) facility management; and 9) community involvement.

 

Rutherford County is located in the beautiful foothills of western North Carolina centrally located between Asheville and Charlotte.  The County is famous for its natural attractions and beautiful scenery at Lake Lure and Chimney Rock State Park.  The County has a population of approximately 63,000 people and serves roughly 9,500 students in eighteen schools spread throughout the area.  Of those, four are high schools, three are middle schools and eleven elementary schools.  Rutherford County Schools also has pre-school programs, after-school care programs and a middle grade and high school alterative program.  

 

Rutherford County Schools are governed by an elected seven member Board of Education.  The Board of Education is consistently recognized as progressive leaders in the community who enjoy a strong relationship with the county government and the citizens of Rutherford County.  Rutherford County Schools has experienced positive growth over the last several years and the Board is searching for a Superintendent who will continue this tradition.
