The Washington County Board of Education is seeking a
superintendent to lead the school system in its continuing pursuit of
excellence. Candidates must meet the

Applications are due by June 24, 2009. The board hopes to make a final decision by the end of August 2009. The board would prefer candidates to take office no later than October 1, 2009.
A candidate must demonstrate ability and success in (1) educational leadership; (2) goal setting and monitoring achievement; (3) fostering community and/or intergovernmental partnerships; (4) administration and organization of long- and short-term planning, budgeting, and personnel and facility management; (5) strong communication and effective team-building skills; (6) visibility and involvement in community activities; and (7) leadership in maintaining safe school environments.
The Washington County School System is governed by a five-member board of education. The system includes five schools with approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.
