School personnel are under increasing pressure to proactively share information about students with law enforcement officials, mental health providers, and others in the hope of preventing the next school shooting or similar tragedy. This webinar examines the limits FERPA places on the release of student information to law enforcement and other third parties and provides general guidance as to what information can be shared, with whom, and under what circumstances.

Visitors on Campus: Community Use of Facilities and Outsider Access to Students (Webinar)

This webinar will include discussion of the federal and state laws that local school boards should consider when developing board policies related to: (1) allowing visitors access to students and school buildings during the school day, (2) circumstances when school officials are permitted to ban individuals from school grounds and activities, and (3) school facility rental.

NCSBA is holding its first ever Equity NC event for public school leaders. The day and a half conference will feature timely, thought-provoking training and conversation about closing the gaps for all students. A draft agenda is available here.

Registration Fee

Early bird registration fee of $250 is available until on Dec. 31, 2018. On Jan. 1, the regular registration fee is $325.

Refunds, Cancellations, and Substitutions

The deadline for cancellations is February 14. Cancellations must be received in writing via email to clewis@ncsba.org by that date and will incur a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellation requests received after February 14 and no shows will not be refunded as NCSBA performs duties and incurs expenses in anticipation of your participation. Substitutions of individuals may be made at any time.
