Due to inclement weather throughout the state, we will replay this webinar on Tuesday, February 20.
This webinar will explore the current federal and state legal patchwork governing challenges to the educational program and instructional materials by parents and other stakeholders. The webinar will include a discussion of recent developments and trends, an in-depth analysis of current federal and state law and policy, and an overview of NCSBA’s policy tools for navigating curriculum and textbook challenges. Additionally, the webinar will cover several policy and other recommendations for handling such challenges within your school system.
The January 18-19 session has been rescheduled to February 28-March 1 due to weather.
Now that you’re a board member, let NCSBA help you with your next steps!
The NCSBA office will be the location for two days of learning more than just the basics about being a school board member. Participants will hear from educational leaders and NCSBA’s staff. Veteran board members can also benefit by learning about recent legal and legislative issues affecting public education.
Suggested Hotel: Hampton Inn | 3621 Spring Forest Road | Raleigh, NC 27616 | Phone: 919.872.7111
During this webinar the presenter will discuss the 2014 U.S. Supreme Court and 2017 Fourth Circuit cases that address some of the legal issues related to the practice of opening school board meetings with prayer. Although these cases do not provide a definitive answer to every related legal question, this webinar will discuss the clear holding of each case so that school board members and administrators will be well-informed about the current status of the law.
