Summer Leadership Seminars @ Courtyard Marriott Carolina Beach
Jun 14 @ 8:00 am – Jun 16 @ 12:30 pm

The 2021 NCSBA Summer Leadership Seminars and Policy Conference is back in person! The dates are June 14-18 at the Courtyard Marriott in Carolina Beach. Details regarding daily programming are forthcoming.

REGISTRATION WILL OPEN MONDAY, APRIL 26

Your health and well-being are our number one priority. As of April 21, there is an in-person attendance limitation of 60 participants in place due to COVID-19. Mask-wearing, social distancing, and room capacity restrictions will help ensure a safe and healthy event for all. The following guidelines are required protocols and procedures for attendee participation throughout the week. As North Carolina restrictions continue to relax, NCSBA staff will communicate adjustments to the guidelines with registered participants and on the event webpage at ncsba.org.
  • Avoid conference participation if you are exhibiting any of the following symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
  • Participant capacity is limited to 60.
  • On-site registration will not be allowed. Attendees must register on or before June 7, 2021.
  • You will be required to wear a face mask at all times in the meeting room, even if you have been fully vaccinated. This requirement will be strictly enforced.
  • Social distancing requirements must be observed.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available in the meeting room.
  • If you start to feel sick or to display COVID-19 symptoms, do not attend any conference activities or come within six feet of others. Please remain in your hotel room and notify the registrar at ahunter@ncsba.org.
Registration
Conference pre-registration is required. The cost per day is $199 and includes materials, continental breakfast, and mid-morning break. Registration will open on Monday, April 26. Registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis. Daily capacity is currently 60 participants.

Hotel
NCSBA has secured a limited block of rooms at the Courtyard Marriott at the rate of $229 per night plus tax. Reservations must be initiated through NCSBA if you would like to stay at the Courtyard Marriott. During the registration process, simply select the option for the day registration plus hotel stay.

Hotel Guidelines

Participants staying at the Courtyard Marriott receive one free parking space per guest room. Offsite participants or guest rooms that have more than one vehicle must park in public parking spaces. Note that fees apply for the public parking spaces.

The entire hotel, including balconies, is smoke free. Inquire at the front desk for the designated smoking areas. The hotel is not a pet-friendly property.

In addition, the hotel has advised us of the following COVID-19 safety precautions they are taking for all guests:

  • As part of the hotel’s commitment to health and safety, each room will be disinfected in preparation for guest arrival and hotel staff will only enter your guest room if requested. Daily housekeeping service is currently suspended; if you need anything during your stay, contact the front desk.
  • Masks are to be worn at all times in public areas inside the hotel as mandated by Marriott and the state of North Carolina.
  • The fitness center is open to 1 guest or 1 family at a time. Please wipe down all used equipment after each use.
  • Pools are open to limited capacities. A maximum occupancy of 40 people at a time is allotted for the outdoor pool. A maximum occupancy of 15 people at a time is allotted for the indoor pool. A sign-up sheet is available for the indoor pool at the front desk.

NCSBA will continue to work with the staff at the Courtyard Marriott to provide as safe an environment as possible while you’re attending the conference. As such, we are reviewing ways to limit opportunities for both staff and attendees to repeatedly touch/share the same objects (i.e., pens, serving utensils, door handles, etc.) and reduce lines to encourage people to stay at least six feet apart through signage and other visual cues.
