DESCRIPTION:Core training is NCSBA’s foundational sessions for new and veteran board members. It is a free member benefit that helps strengthen governance skills and solidify your boardsmanship foundation. \nThis two-day session will cover leadership\, advocacy\, and the required ethics training for school board members. \nCore training topics include: \n\nLeadership Training – basic boardsmanship dos and don’ts\, board/superintendent roles and responsibilities\, school finance and budget questions for the board table\, advocacy\, and school board liability.\nSchool Law Training – the required ethics training for school board members\, maintaining legally compliant policies for schools\, and understanding the open meetings and public records laws.\n\nCore Training will be held on Thursday and Friday\, December 10 and 11\, at the NCSBA Office in Raleigh. While event registration is free\, you must register in advance to participate.
