Summer Leadership Conference

June 15 @ 8:00 am - June 19 @ 1:00 pm EDT

Save the date for the Summer Leadership Conference in Wrightsville Beach June 15-19. Registration is by day, so choose when you want to attend the sessions of interest. The cost is $199 per day and includes conference materials, buffet breakfast, and snacks.

Daily Agenda Focus

  • Monday, June 15: Effective Advocacy for Student Achievement
    8 AM to 1 PM

    Stay informed about the latest legislative developments affecting public education and learn how to effectively advocate for your schools at the state and local levels. This session will equip you with practical strategies for building relationships with lawmakers, understanding the legislative process, and making your voice heard on critical education policy issues. 
  • Tuesday, June 16: Engage Your Community with Storytelling
    8 AM to 1 PM

    Learn how to communicate your district’s story effectively to engage stakeholders, build community support, and counter misinformation about public education. Discover strategies for developing clear, compelling messages that resonate with diverse audiences and strengthen trust in your schools. 
  • Wednesday, June 17Financial Governance
    8 AM to 1 PM

    Gain confidence in your financial oversight responsibilities by exploring essential concepts in school budgeting, fiscal policy, and resource allocation. This session will help you ask the right questions, understand financial reports, and explore policies your district needs to ensure the board carries out its fiscal responsibilities. 
  • Thursday, June 18: Strategies for Better Board Performance
    8 AM to 1 PM

    Participants will explore strategies to keep your governance team focused on student achievement. This session will look at key functions needed to be a high performing governance team that positively impacts your district. Presenters will share governance tools and provide a legal update that will help you keep teaching and learning at the center of governance conversations.
  • Friday, June 19: Build Trust to Get Results for Your Board
    8 AM to 1 PM

    High-trust teams and organizations bring out the best in their people and get the greatest results. NCSBA will introduce the Trust Edge Framework and share the case for trust training by your board members. The conference will wrap up with a toolsforthe-road session that will highlight ways to implement learning ideas throughout the week.

All conference activities will take place at the Lumina on Wrightsville Beach. The hotel room block is currently full. Check the link to see if rooms have become available at the conference rate.

All participants, whether you are staying at the Lumina or commuting daily, will be charged $15 per day for parking. Attendees staying at the Lumina may see a $30 resort fee charge due to how the IHG booking site operates. Please know that the Lumina will only charge the $15 parking fee not the full $30 resort fee.

Cancellation/Refund Requests

NCSBA understands that plans may change and alter your ability to attend your registered event. The association makes arrangements and incurs expenses in anticipation of your attendance. The following information specifies the refund policy and allowable substitutions for NCSBA conferences and workshops. Requests should be emailed to co************@***ba.org.

  • Full Refund
    A full refund will be given when a written cancellation request is received 30 calendar days prior to the first day of the event.
  • Cancellation Fee – $50
    A refund less $50 will be given when a written cancellation request is received less than 30 days and prior to 7 days before the first day of the event.
  • Substitutions
    Cancellations made less than 6 days before the first day of the event are not eligible for refunds; however, substitutions are allowed at any time.
  • No Shows
    Cancellation requests received after the first day of the event will not be accepted as the association has performed duties and incurred expenses based on your planned participation.
