Elementary School Poster Contest

NCSBA is asking elementary school students to tell us what makes a good friend! Member elementary schools are invited to submit a poster to our 2023 Elementary Poster Contest.  There are two submission categories: kindergarten through second grade (K-2) and third through fifth grade (3-5).

Eligibility

The contest is open to NCSBA member district elementary schools. NCSBA is the professional organization that represents 116 local boards of education in North Carolina.  It is a member-driven association that supports the school governance team – school board members, superintendents, senior administrative staff, and board assistants – in its complex leadership role. The association helps develop, communicate, and advocate for the perspective of North Carolina school districts.

Submission Information

All entries must be submitted online. Do not mail posters as they will not be entered into the contest or returned. Each school can enter one poster per grade level. We recommend hosting your own contest first. Below are some tips for uploading student artwork.

  • Use a high-resolution camera. Many cell phones have the capability of taking fantastic pictures.
  • Be sure the artwork is well lit. Try to minimize glare by using indirect light sources.
  • Take the photo as straight on as possible to prevent distortion. Check to make sure the image is clear and not blurry.

Media Permission Form

Students that place or earn honorable mention will have their artwork and name, grade level, school, and school district posted on NCSBA’s website and social media sites. Be sure to obtain appropriate permission according to your district’s board policies and procedures prior to entering a submission.

Awards

The top posters from each submission category, as determined by the judges, will be displayed during the 2023 NCSBA Annual Conference virtual event site. Each category will have a first-, second-, and third-place winner.

Submission Deadline

Contest opens July 1, 2023. Posters must be submitted online no later than October 2, 2023 at 5:00PM.

Judging

Posters will be judged on how well they address the topic, the quality of work, and the creativity of the poster.

This form is currently closed for submissions.
